James McKay

J.R. McKay was educated at Bishop's University, the Royal Military College of Canada and King's College London.  He has multiple research interests, including strategic coercion, strategy, Canadian politics and the Vietnam War.  He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Royal Military College of Canada.

Christian Leuprecht

Christian Leuprecht is associate professor of political science at the Royal Military College of Canada.  He is cross-appointed to the Department of Political Studies and the School of Policy Studies at Queen’s University where he is adjunct chair of Defence Management Studies as well as fellow of both the Queen’s Centre for International Relations and the Institute of Intergovernmental Relations.  He has held visiting appointments at the Swedish National Defence College, the University of Pennsylvania, the International Institute for Advanced Systems Analysis, and Yale University as the Bicentennial Visiting Associate Professor in Canadian Studies.

Dr. Abdelkérim Ousman

Dr. Abdelkérim Ousman was born and raised in Abéché, Republic of Chad. The city of Abéché is contiguous to the region of Darfur. He graduated from Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) in 1988, with a Bachelor in Political Science. In 1990, he completed an M.A in Political Science at UQAM, and in 1996, he obtained his Ph.D. degree from Carleton University in Political Science.

Dr Henrik Heidenkamp

Dr. Heidenkamp is a Research Fellow for the Defence, Industries and Society Programme. He received the degree of Magister Artium (M.A.) in political sciences and economics by the University of Mannheim, Germany and was awarded the title of Dr. rer. pol. by the Helmut-Schmidt-University / University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg. His dissertational thesis examined the stress ratio between the global, national and alliance determinants of the development process of the German Federal Armed Forces at the beginning of the 21st century.

Rebecca Thiessen

I am a Canada Research Chair in Global Studies and Leadership. I am Adjunct Professor in Global Development Studies at Queen’s University and a Research Fellow at Dalhousie University. At RMC, I am cross-appointed to the Department of Politics and Economics and to the War Studies Program. I supervise graduate students in several graduate programs at RMC and in Global Development Studies at Queens.

Will Chalmers

Will Chalmers is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Security, Armed Forces and Society (CSAFS) based at the Royal Military College of Canada. (RMCC) He is a graduate of the War Studies MA program at RMCC and holds a BAH in Political Science & History from the University of Guelph.

His research interests include; contemporary military history, counter-insurgency and Canadian foreign and defence policy. He has contributed work to The Canadian Army Journal, Small Wars Journal and others.

Elizabeth Kellett

Elizabeth Kellett is a Master's student at Saint Paul University/University of Ottawa, studying Conflict Studies. She has been involved with CSAFS since March, 2011 when she assisted with the Red Teaming University conference. Her research interests include Defence policy, Canadian foreign policy, terrorism prevention, peace-building, genocide prevention, and war-affected children.
