Christian Leuprecht

Christian Leuprecht is associate professor of political science at the Royal Military College of Canada.  He is cross-appointed to the Department of Political Studies and the School of Policy Studies at Queen’s University where he is adjunct chair of Defence Management Studies as well as fellow of both the Queen’s Centre for International Relations and the Institute of Intergovernmental Relations.  He has held visiting appointments at the Swedish National Defence College, the University of Pennsylvania, the International Institute for Advanced Systems Analysis, and Yale University as the Bicentennial Visiting Associate Professor in Canadian Studies.

His research has been supported by $1 million in extra-mural funding, including the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, Defence Research and Development Canada, the United States Department of Defence and the United States Department of Homeland Security.

He has published nine books and 40 scholarly articles and book chapters in a broad array of international scholarly journals.  He is a frequent media commentator and consults Canadian and international governments and their respective ministries on national security as well as demographic change.

He holds a Ph.D. from Queen’s University and has earned graduate degrees from the University of Toronto and the Institut d’Études Politiques de Grenoble at Université Pierre Mendès-France and has conducted fieldwork in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Italy, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Mauritius, India and Singapore.
